Hope in something greater than ourselves can save and sustain life in the most despairing pit. Hoping to experience justice, goodness or beauty, surges humanity to press on. We're united by our propensity to hope for success and yet the path divides here. Choices are made and bets are placed on who and where our hopes are placed.
There is one spiritual road that places all hope in one historically unprecedented person. This person takes on the discussion of eternity with authority as if knowing, or rather being the judge of our souls. He rises up from a tradition of righteous law and challenges it, looking to speak to hearts not facades. He knows suffering but does not hate those that inflict his bleeding wounds. He is killed and as predicted he is not found in His grave. Students of his confess they saw him after his death and tell others he was God walking among us. Those students are all but one brutally executed for their hope in seeing him again.
This person I have described above is named Jesus Christ. If you do not know him, you are probably struggling with the personas and controversial discussions around him. Please, let me urge you to find a bible and open to the book of John (the first book of the new testament) and decide for yourself. Is he worth the hope that his followers, through the centuries, have placed in him?
I hope in Jesus and look forward to seeing what my life, as his follower, will look like. There will be beauty, and like his life, there will be suffering. I wanted to share that with you here, because a lot of my work and life is seasoned with hope in God. My goal on this page is to provide some clarity on where my spiritual beliefs fall.
Please feel free to ask me about this hope I have, in person, anytime. Here, the conversation is one sided, and that is not how it should be. I would love to hear about your experience and where you're choosing to place your hope.
